The Department of Civil Aerospace, with full backing from the federal government, has been constructing the ISV Aurora above over a long period.
It is a colossal, interstellar colony vessel, intended to sail the stars and deploy many landers on a new planet in another star system, but for now it will help set up new self-sustaining bases on multiple planets within our own system, as well as ferry large amounts of initial supplies to get the bases running.
The Federated States has considered inviting hundreds of astronauts, engineers and scientists from other countries to act as the crew of the ship, however at the cost of their home countries having to pay a portion of the ship's cost.
The project is a multi-billion dollar one, and as such, it is going to be heavily guarded by Federation Space Command frigates.
