The Apollo Service Module (hereafter referred to as ASM) is a small rocket stage powered by 2 Batteries and is the lower portion of the Apollo CSM.

The ASM can be used as a second stage, and mostly any small payload or capsule can be attached to it.

It is the smallest rocket part that can be used as a first stage, and can actually reach orbit by itself.

The Apollo Service Module was used in various missions and programs such as the Apollo Moon Landings and the Apollo-Soyuz program. It was also included in the construction of the Saturn 1B and the Saturn V.
